Biography: Welcome to my blog! I am a 29-year-old author and historian. I hold a Master of Arts in Military History from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Arts in Public History from the University of Western Ontario. My research interests include air power in the Second World War, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean, and Canadian military history. My first book, Eagles over Husky: The Allied Air Forces and the Sicilian Campaign, 14 May to 17 August 1943, was published in early 2018.

Check out some of my work in Canadians and War Volume 1. My contribution is an essay about Canadian airmen in the Battle of Sicily.

I am a huge Toronto Blue Jays fan so you may see me post about baseball on occasion. Other posts may be gaming-related. I am often found playing War Thunder on PC or various games on my Xbox One. My identity on most gaming services is FighterBomber89. As an aviation enthusiast, I may post pictures of the various aircraft I manage to catch a glimpse of. I may also use artwork or digitally rendered images of aircraft for illustrations. For instance, the banner image is “Hockey in the Duff” by Ardell Bourgeois.

  1. Dear Alex. Your blog has just been very highly recommended to me. I wonder whether you might consider reviewing my books, warmly-received historical fictions bringing alive the amazing saga of the Empire Air Training Scheme from the Australian perspective. They feature the Tiger Moth, Hurricane, Spitfire, Typhoon, Mosquito, Lancaster and many more, and all from the cockpit – especially for readers who’ve never even heard of them! “Nor the Years Condemn” & “Ghosts of the Empire”. Please do see their synopses at their Amazon listings below & I look forward to your thoughts. — Justin Sheedy.
